Brooklyn’s Playground
Developed by the parents of Brooklyn Fisher, who had spina bifida. This park in Pocatello, Idaho, features ramps, smooth surfaces and therapeutic swings
Hadley’s Park, Potomac, Maryland
The first accessible playground in the state this facility features accessible play equipment such as swings, seesaws and slides, plus wheelchair-friendly surfaces and a wildflower meadow.
Fairmount Carousel Playground
Nestled in Fairmount Park in Riverside, California, the Fairmount Carousel Playground evokes a merry-go-round theme. It features a slide, musical equipment, a splash pad, a carousel and sensory experiences
Millstone Creek Park, Ohio
A nature-inspired concept featuring bushes-cum-tunnels and a boardwalk with ramps it also includes accessible swings, slides etc plus the NEOS 360 – a huge video game with lights and noises.
Everybody’s Tree House, Tennessee
Situated in Germantown this tree-house is positioned amongst native trees and plants as well as a range of raised sandboxes and interactive gardens and is designed to be accessible to all kids.
Signal Centers Playground
Set in a beautiful gardens this nature rich playground is situated in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It provides amazing multi-sensory experiences for children and adults of all ages and abilities.
Rocket Park, Grand Junction, Colorado
A renovated rocket-shaped jungle gym from the 1960s provides a great art feature at this playground. It also includes interactive games, “rocket control” panels, multi-sensory toys and more.
Jacob’s Park, Boynton Beach
A tribute to Jacob Rappoport, who passed away in 2002 as a result of spinal muscular atrophy this inclusive playground in Florida features a ramps, slides, sensory equipment to smooth surfacing.
Stewart Vincent Wolfe Playground
Suitable for wheelchairs, slides, it includes a special swing for youngsters with disabilities and even a “fighter jet.” This mega play zone in Yuma, Arizona included ideas from school kids.
Reese’s Retreat, Pasadena, Cal.
This fabulous pirate ship play park stretches over almost half an acre and features ramps, wheelchair-friendly flooring plus a range of fun multi-sensory apparatus with sand and water for play.
Zachary’s Playground, MO
Located at Hawk Ridge Park in Lake St. Louis, the park includes accessible swings, a water play feature for warm days, a music space, slides and a net for climbing – complete with special seating.
Taylor’s Dream, Fort Wayne
This park features ramps, a sensory play area, an AeroGlider, a water play section and more. It was developed from an idea by the then 11 year old Indiana Taylor Reuille who wanted to start an inclusive playground.
Clemyjontri Park, Fairfax County
This playground stretches across 2 acres has four different areas which can help kids exercise their imaginations and also get active on special swings. It also has an accessible carousel for children in wheelchairs.
Tony Stewart Playground, Indiana
Ideal for budding racecar drivers this racing themed playground is full of slides, swings and a Rock-N-Raft, plus ramps for kids in wheelchairs so they can zip down and under a set of checkered finish-line flags.
JT’s Grommet Island Beach Park
The nation’s first such beachfront park is decked out with a beach theme and has elevated tables for making sandcastles, a “sway board,” plus a sensory panel to entertain visually challenged children.
Harambee Park, Boston, Mass.
As well as the ramps and wheelchair-friendly surfacing, the playground features high-backed swings, plus play panels and a vibrant purple and yellow color scheme offering kids new perspectives.
Can-Do Playground Wilmington
Set in the city’s Alapocas Run State Park this NatureGrounds park has an abundance of plants and trees and features mazes and games plus special play equipment, like adapted swings and raised sandboxes.
Hope Park, Frisco, Texas
The recreational space includes ramps along with a smooth, squashy surface for people in wheelchairs. It also comes set with special swings, a roller slide, sensory equipment, musical instruments and more.
Matthew’s Boundless Playground
Situated in Kissimmee, Florida this park is based on the board game Candy Land and has special swings, slides and more. It offers free weeklong vacations for kids with critical illnesses and their families.
Helen Diller Playground
The pastel-colored park in San Francisco includes a 45-foot-long slide, swings, bongo drums, a giant xylophone, an array of climbing facilities, and even a pair of wheelchair-friendly play boats for imaginary games.
Playground without limits
The play park features various ramps so that wheelchair users can enjoy 90 percent of the equipment, an accessible “Sway Fun” glider, sound play devices, as well as a rehabilitation trail for improving skills.
Jake’s Place, Cherry Hill, New Jersey
This includes sensory sections, a ramp, wheelchair lifts, slides and much more.
There are special areas in which autistic kids can spend some chill out time or do their own activities.
Tatum’s Garden, Salinas, California
The surface of the 20,000-square-foot playground is covered in cushioning rubber and the park is filled with wheelchair-friendly ramps and structures, as well as adaptive swings.
Shiver Me Timbers Millennium Park
This charming accessible playground in Lake Charles, Louisiana, includes a 40-foot pirate ship, an adaptive swing and the wheelchair accessible Crying Eagles Nest Treehouse.
