Greek Islands
Greece
Greece is working hard to make itself a more welcoming place for travelers with disabilities.
Both mainland and island locations offering facilities for wheelchair users and many hotels and restaurants have also adapted their interiors to accommodate wheelchair users.
Kythnos
This island tends to have fewer crowds because it is one of the lesser-known islands.
The diving school AquaKythnos run by Manthos Marras, Greece’s first disabled scuba instructor has a boat that takes you to the various accessible diving spots around the island.
Crete
Much of the city of Rethymno, like other cities on the island, is accessible.
Many parts of Rethymno’s famous Blue Flag-awarded sandy coastline have been equipped for wheelchair users, and feature lifeguards and accessible bathrooms.
