Haystax Inclusive Lodges & Farm Experience, County Durham

Haystax has 2 fully accessible luxury lodges at present and intend to have 9 in the future.  The lodges are set in the heart of the countryside on the family farm near the small hamlet of Knitsley and enjoy stunning views over the Browney Valley.

Each lodge has been designed with a range of subtle adaptations that work for a wide range of families. These include level flooring and large turning circles that make our lodges fully wheelchair accessible, accessible wet rooms with smart automatic toilets and visual alarms for those with hearing impairments. They can be further adapted to meet your needs with the addition of a range of adaptive equipment that will make your stay more comfortable. You can enjoy them from the warmth and comfort of your bright and airy open-plan living area, in the sunshine on your private deck or while soaking in your hot tub with a glass of wine?

There are 2 sensory rooms onsite, all designed to meet a range of needs from toddlers to the elderly. They include fibre optic lights, a vibrating chair etc. and are perfect if you need some quiet time and sensory regulation.  It also has a Changing Places Toilet Facility to allow visitors to use the facilities in comfort and with dignity.

Attractions

There is so much to do onsite that you may not want to go out but if you do you might enjoy a trip on the World’s Oldest Railway at Tanfield (although it has limited openning times).  Staying in another time you might enjoy the world famous open air museum in Beamish which tells the story of life in the North East England during the 1820s, 1900s 1940s and 1950s.  For more ideas click here.
